English<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Anthony Reid, one of the founding fathers of rediscovery of Southeast Asian history in the last few decades, has been inspiring many academicians in various fields of social sciences, and particularly history.<\/div>\n
\n

The attention which we are trying to take is related to his mentorship in Aceh history. The way of his study has become very encouraging for not only Acehnese, Indonesian, but also for some other researchers and nationalities such as Australian, Malaysian, Japanese, American, German, British etc. \u00a0We may argue that Prof. Reid has a special attention to Aceh history.<\/p>\n

He developed his relations with Acehnese academicians such as Isa Sulaiman and became a board member of Aceh Institute. Though Isa Sulaiman passed away in the tsunami 26th\u00a0December, 2004, Reid has continued to be mentor of some young intellectuals who come together at Aceh Institute.<\/p>\n

The importance of Reid in terms of Aceh his attempts to organize international Aceh conferences after MoU Helsinki, 15th\u00a0August, 2005. Thus he established a board of international members to highlight an institutions establishment. Though he had more difficulties throughout the process he seems to have succeeded to have held three conferences titled International Center of Aceh Indian Ocean Studies (ICAIOS). The first in 2007, at Hermes Palace in Banda Aceh, the second (2009) and third (2011) at Unsyiah and IAIN Ar-Raniry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reid\u2019i konu almam\u0131za yol a\u00e7an unsur nedir diye sorulabilir? Reid, sadece genel itibar\u0131yla G\u00fcneydo\u011fu Asya tarihi de\u011fil, \u00f6zelde A\u00e7e tarihi konusunda k\u00f6kl\u00fc \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 ile bir anlamda g\u00f6rece gen\u00e7 akademisyenlere rehber olmu\u015f bir \u015fahsiyettir. Bu rehberli\u011fi sadece g\u00f6rev yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00fcniversite(ler) ile s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 olmam\u0131\u015f, A\u00e7e\u2019yi \u015fu veya bu \u015fekilde ilgi alan\u0131na alm\u0131\u015f ba\u015fta A\u00e7eli, Endonezyal\u0131 olmak \u00fczere Avustralya, \u0130ngiltere, Almanya, ABD, Japonya, Malezya gibi d\u00fcnyan\u0131n hemen her yan\u0131ndan ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131lara, akademisyenler onun eserleri ile A\u00e7e\u2019ye n\u00fcfuz etme gere\u011fi duymu\u015flard\u0131r.<\/div>\n

Bu ba\u011flamda, Reid\u2019in, A\u00e7e\u2019ye dair \u00f6zel bir ilgi besledi\u011fini s\u00f6yleyebiliriz. 1990\u2019l\u0131 y\u0131llarda, A\u00e7e\u2019nin \u00f6nde gelen sosyologu \u0130sa S\u00fcleyman ba\u015fta olmak \u00fczere, o d\u00f6nem A\u00e7eli gen\u00e7 akademisyenler ile birlikte A\u00e7e Enstit\u00fcs\u00fc\u2019n\u00fc kurmu\u015f ve y\u00f6netim kurulu \u00fcyeli\u011fi yapm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bir anlamda kurumun \u2018beyni\u2019 h\u00fcviyetinde olan \u0130sa S\u00fcleyman, 26 Aral\u0131k 2004 tarihinde ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen tsunamide hayat\u0131n\u0131 kaybetmesi kuruma kan kaybettirmi\u015f olabilir. Bu konferanslar Uluslararas\u0131 A\u00e7e ve Hint Okyanusu Konferans\u0131 (ICAIOS) olarak yap\u0131land\u0131 ve kurumsalla\u015fma konusunda \u00f6nemli giri\u015fimler ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirildi. \u0130lki 2007, ikincisi 2009 \u00fc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fcs\u00fc 2011\u2019de Banda A\u00e7e\u2019deki \u00e7e\u015fitli mekanlarda ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilen bu konferanslar dizisi, \u00f6zellikle A\u00e7e ger\u00e7e\u011fini tarihi, k\u00fclt\u00fcrel, sosyal, ekonomik, bar\u0131\u015f s\u00fcreci vb. ba\u011flamlar\u0131 ile \u00e7ok geni\u015f bir kat\u0131l\u0131mla ele al\u0131nmas\u0131nda g\u00f6zard\u0131 edilemeyecek bir birikimin olu\u015fmas\u0131na neden oldu. Reid, bu konferanslar dizisi ba\u015flang\u0131c\u0131nda olu\u015fturdu\u011fu uluslararas\u0131 komite (ki i\u00e7inde T\u00fcrkiye\u2019den de bir \u00fcye bulunuyor) ile bu olu\u015fumun kurumsalla\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 planl\u0131yordu. Ve ilgili \u00fclkeler ad\u0131na kat\u0131l\u0131mc\u0131 \u00fcyelerin gayretleri ile bu ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilecekti. Reid, emeklili\u011finin ard\u0131ndan do\u011fdu\u011fu topraklara yani Avustralya\u2019ya d\u00f6nerek Avustralya Ulusal \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nde g\u00f6reve ba\u015flad\u0131.<\/p>\n
