… This compiled work includes some of my research papers produced in English in the last fifteen years. These papers, which have been structured by the theme of “critical analytical approach to the Ottomans’ engagement in the Indian Ocean littorals. And, in particular, “the Ottoman’s relations with Malay world” as a conceptual tool, take into consideration of the Ottomans and general Malay World relations comprehensively. I selected these particular papers among others for this project because these are relatively diversified in themes and subjects, although it is not arguable that this compilation includes all aspects of the historical relations and contains the geographical richness of the whole Archipelago. Besides, I needed guidance and assistance from many individuals in different professions and from all walks of life, from villages to campuses in Aceh. Frankly, each article is a subject yet to be converted into a specific book publication. By compiling these works, I aim to inform readers interested in those areas.
